Hi peeps,
Here is some info on Virgin
Media.
Last year I upgraded from 4 Mb to 8 Mb then XL (WOW) 20
Mb broadband @ £37 a
month.
for some weeks I noticed no improvement in my
broadband download speeds,so a call to virgin tech and all was sorted ...so say
!!!
For some months I noticed poor performance on p2p networks but put this
down to heavy traffic.
Still not satisfied I ran some speed tests for 8 weeks
this year my average speed was 6 Mb AND a Max of 8 Mb.
I rang virgin
technical again and after 1hr 30 mins I was told that my modem was capped @ 8 Mb
and could not be uncapped to 20 Mb as my area (Bristol SW) was not ready for
this speed.
I spent two days last week on the phone to sells asking why I was
charged the £37 a month for a service they could not provide......duh homer I
don't know...was there answer,I got back my over payment + £50 comp which added
up to a grand total of £155.
my local radio station took up the story but
virgin denied this ever happened.
very few places in the uk can get 20 Mb
from virgin but you can upgrade on there site and they will take your money and
tell you nothing if they can't provide the speed.
The max speed I got was 8 Mb...
So anyone reading this who has or knows of anyone
paying £37 pm for 20 Mb broadband do what I did and punch in to Google
"broadband speed test" and use a free test online to see if you are being ripped
off.
I say only 1/8th of the uk can get 20 Mb mainly up
north check virgins site for the roll out of there mega fast
service......
