Chased by Debt Collection Agency

I am being chased by debt collection agency for alleged unpaid bills for broadband use. I used NTL broadband for for over a year. When I moved house I cancelled the contract. All the outstanding amount was paid as I was paying by direct debit. This happened in Feb'07. I had a letter from a debt collection agency in July'07 regarding an outstanding amount. I spoke tyo Virgin and was told they will resolve it. I have received another letter in Feb'08 from another debt collection agency. Again I have been assured by Virgin that they will recall the debt. Please can any one advise me as to what action I should take?. I have all the bank statements to prove that amount has been paid.
